Las Vegas Fire Department
receives State Farm
“Good Neighbor Citizenship” grant

Pictured above are Rosemarie Montoya, local State Farm representative, and Stephen Tafoya, Interim Fire Chief of the City of Las Vegas Fire Department receiving a $7,000.00 grant from State Farm Insurance Company.  This grant is part of the charitable efforts of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance and State Farm Companies Foundation called the “Good Neighbor Citizenship” grant.  The foundation concentrates on disaster prevention and recovery services.  The purpose of this grant is for the establishment of the Las Vegas Fire Departments “Fire Safety Community Outreach Program” which is scheduled to start April 1st 2008.  Monies from the grant went towards the purchase of 250 kitchen fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, along with literature and a video on fire prevention in the home.

This program is a non-income dependent program and all citizens are encouraged to participate.  Kitchen fire extinguishers and smoke detectors will be given out on a first come first serve basis.  Citizens are asked to come by the City of Las Vegas Fire Department located at 604 Legion Drive, Thursdays at 2:00pm and 6:00pm and Fridays 2:00pm and 6:00pm or call the Las Vegas Fire Department at 425-6321 for more information.
