Community Development Mission Statement

The mission of the Community Development Department is to maintain a balance among numerous issues and interests in the community, treat the public with dignity and respect; nourish and promote the existing quality of life, accommodate for rational growth, neighborhood stability and beneficial economic development. The department’s mission is to also support historic preservation, and the community’s desire to maintain cultural diversity and integrity; promote the protection and enhancement of natural resources; provide ample opportunity for public input; weigh the rights of private property owners and the needs and desires of the community; promote the application of rules, regulations and ordinances professionally, with fairness and compassion.
