Beatriz "Bea" Gallegos
Shelter Manager
505-426-3289
With over six years in animal welfare, Bea brings deep compassion and leadership to her role as Animal Shelter Manager for the City of Las Vegas. Her journey began with the Animal Welfare Coalition, where she built a strong foundation in shelter operations and animal care. When operations transitioned to the City in 2022, Bea stayed—not for the title, but for the animals who needed her.
Originally set on becoming a veterinarian, she discovered her true passion in animal behavior and advocacy while working as a kennel tech. Since then, she’s dedicated her career to guiding animals from intake to adoption and supporting the community through education and outreach.
Starting as a one-person operation, Bea built the shelter from the ground up, now leading a passionate team focused on innovation, partnerships, and compassionate care. She’s been instrumental in expanding programs, improving ordinances, and securing funding for a future facility—all while continuing to prioritize the welfare of animals and the people who love them.
