
Job Description
SUMMARY:
Performs under the general direction of the Senior Center Manager. Provides transportation services for senior citizens and assists with meal delivery, kitchen operations, and maintaining a safe and clean environment at the Senior Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides transportation for senior adults to and from their homes, Senior Center, shopping locations, and appointments.
• Operates a public passenger vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assists passengers with boarding and exiting the vehicle when needed.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness and performs routine checks to ensure safe operation.
• Follows all safety procedures and traffic regulations while transporting passengers.
• Assists with delivery of meals to qualified homebound senior citizens.
• Assists with food preparation, meal service, and kitchen activities as needed.
• Maintains a clean and organized kitchen and facility environment.
• Assists with receiving and maintaining food inventory and supplies.
• Completes required paperwork, logs, schedules, and reports.
• Communicates transportation issues, passenger concerns, and vehicle problems to management.
• Attends required training and safety meetings.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License.
• Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certifications within six (6) months of hire date.
• Must complete required Defensive Driving training during orientation or first day of employment.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Two years of direct work experience.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to operate a public passenger vehicle safely and efficiently.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with senior citizens, coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professional working relationships.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, and required paperwork.
• Ability to understand transportation schedules, routes, and service requirements.
• Ability to handle difficult situations with patience and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to use radio communication equipment.
• Knowledge of local streets, routes, and surrounding service areas is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
• Work may be performed in various weather conditions while operating vehicles and assisting passengers.
• Requires extended periods of sitting while driving.
• May require assisting passengers on and off the vehicle.
• Must be able to perform routine vehicle inspections and maintain a safe working environment.
