
Job Description
SUMMARY:
Performs under the direction of the Gas Supervisor, Gas Superintendent and Gas Systems Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Excavation of trenches, laying pipe, for main and service lines.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License with a good driving record.
Must be insurable by the City’s insurance carrier. Required to drive automobiles, pick-up trucks and service vehicles
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of power tools. Complete knowledge of O & M manual.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to fill out work orders and reports.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed primarily outdoors at worksite locations about 95% of the time and 5% in the office.
Working surface is on concrete, asphalt and dirt areas. Work is performed in all types of inclement weather conditions.
Some travel may be required.
Operates City vehicles and heavy equipment.
Occasionally may be required to work beyond normal work days to complete assignments as directed by the Gas Manager.
Requires excellent physical condition and dexterity. Job may require lifting heavy objects, bending, walking, twisting, climbing ladders, stairs, kneeling, reaching to high areas.
May be required to work in inclement weather.
Ability to lift weight in excess of 100 lbs.
