The City of Las Vegas is under a High Wind Warning from 10:00 AM today until 3:00 AM Wednesday, and a Red Flag Warning until 8:00 PM this evening. Expect 35-50 mph west winds, with gusts up to 70 mph, and humidity levels between 8%-18%. These conditions will create dangerous crosswinds and blowing dust, making travel hazardous and reducing visibility.
Due to critical fire weather, avoid outdoor activities that could spark fires. Open burning within city limits is strictly prohibited.
· Avoid travel if possible, especially in high-profile vehicles.
· If driving, reduce speed, keep a safe distance, and use headlights. Avoid high beams.
· Stay alert for gusts that may affect vehicle control.
· Stay indoors to avoid blowing dust and falling debris.
· Secure outdoor items like furniture and trash cans.
Be prepared for potential power outages due to fallen trees or power lines. Keep an emergency kit with water, food, and flashlights. PNM is monitoring weather conditions and may consider a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). No planned outages are scheduled at this time.
