As longer days and warmer weather arrive, we’re pleased to announce updated hours and important reminders for two of our community parks, giving residents more time to safely enjoy the outdoors. Rodriguez Park and Harris Pond Park are now open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. These seasonal hours align with daylight, enhance safety, and expand recreational opportunities for everyone.

Rodriguez Park, located at 1308 Grant St., features the Nature Trail, one of the park’s most popular destinations. This 1.5-mile, 12-foot-wide path is open to walkers, runners, and pedal bicyclists only. Motorized vehicles, including trucks, UTVs, ATVs, and dirt bikes, are strictly prohibited. The Las Vegas Police Department will conduct regular patrols and monitor the area in person and through security cameras. Visitors are encouraged to help preserve the natural environment by keeping the area clean and undisturbed. Whether you are seeking a peaceful walk, an energizing run, or a scenic bike ride, the trail offers a safe and enjoyable space to connect with nature.

Harris Pond Park, located off Las Vegas Boulevard, is designated as a youth fishing pond for children under 12 only. General fishing is not permitted. The pond is stocked twice annually by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, including ahead of the annual Fourth of July fishing derby. The Kiwanis Club has supported the park with donated picnic tables, benches, and trash receptacles installed by Parks staff.

Fire Safety Reminder: Due to ongoing fire risks and exceptionally dry seasonal conditions, all park guidelines must be strictly followed. Open burning is prohibited within city limits at all times. If grilling occurs, only gas grills are permitted.

Thank you for helping keep our parks safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone. For more information, please call 505-454-1401, ext. 1006.
