PSA 5/4/2025: Flood Watch in Effect for Today: Las Vegas & Nearby Areas

A Flood Watch is in effect from noon today, Sunday, May 4, 2025, through tonight due to increasing showers and thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with some areas potentially receiving even more.

This raises the risk of flash flooding, particularly late today into the overnight hours. Areas in and downstream of burn scars, such as the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon burn scar, are especially susceptible to dangerous runoff and mudflows.

People in these areas should monitor weather forecasts closely and take precautions, especially during any outdoor activities. Avoid low-lying areas, stay off flooded roads, and be prepared to act quickly if flooding develops.
