PSA 6/9/2025 10:00 a.m.: Flood Watch Issued Today for Las Vegas and Surrounding Areas

Residents in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and nearby communities should be prepared for the potential of severe thunderstorms today and tomorrow. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch beginning at noon today and continuing into this evening. Storms developing in the area could bring multiple hazards, including damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding.

Take precautions and avoid any travel through flooded roads or low-water crossings. Even a few inches of moving water can be life-threatening. If you encounter a flooded roadway, Turn Around, Don’t Drown—it’s not worth the risk.

Everyone is encouraged to stay informed by following local news, emergency alerts, and updates from the National Weather Service. Be prepared to respond quickly if conditions worsen or if a Flash Flood Warning is issued later today.

Stay alert, take warnings seriously, and prioritize safety.
