If you applied for assistance and have yet to hear back from FEMA, you should call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 to ask about the status of your application. You could be missing information that is preventing your application from being completed. You should also update any changed contact information as soon as possible because FEMA may need to reach you to update your application or to get additional information. You may update contact information the following ways: Going online at DisasterAssistance.gov Downloading the FEMA app Calling 800-621-3362 Those who use a relay service such as a videophone, should alert FEMA as to the specific number assigned to that service. Multilingual operators are available (press 2 for Spanish). Residents who have not applied for federal assistance yet still have time to submit applications. The fastest and easiest way to apply is by visiting disasterassistance.gov/. You can also visit a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to speak with FEMA specialists face-to-face. Please call to schedule a ride only if you need assistance getting to a critical doctor's appointment that can't wait a week or two. All other rides will not be scheduled. As always, the Meadow City Express operates a Demand Response Service which requires customers to call a day in advance to schedule ride(s). SOLID WASTE SCHEDULE FOR FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY Saturday, July 2, 2022 The City of Las Vegas Solid Waste transfer station will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July fiestas. The transfer station will reopen on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Monday, July 4, 2022 The City of Las Vegas Solid Waste transfer station will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. If you are scheduled for a Monday pickup please have your roll out curbside by 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. We apologize for the inconvenience. Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon Fires June 29, 2022, Daily Update, 08:00 AM Acres: 341,735| Containment: 93% | Total personnel: 1,237| Start Date: Hermits Peak: April 6, 2022; Calf Canyon: April 19, 2022 | Cause: Hermits Peak: Spot fires from prescribed burn; Calf Canyon: Holdover fire from prescribed pile burn | Location: Located near Gallinas Canyon | Fuels: Heavy mixed conifer, ponderosa pine, brush, and grass Highlights: Fire resources are being released due to the decrease in fire activity. The Camino Real Ranger District on the Carson National Forest and Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District on the Santa Fe National Forest remain closed as firefighters continue to work on suppression repair across the entire fire area. North Zone (SWIMT3): An inch or more of rain was received over the fire area yesterday. Firefighters are working on suppression repair activities such as fixing fences and repairing roads in Mora, Holman, Guadalupita, Chacon, along the NM Highway 518 and 434 corridors, and in other areas as well. As drying conditions continue, firefighters will remove equipment that was put in place for suppression use and will move heavy equipment to other areas for use. Firefighters are prepared to assist with post-flood support by removing debris from areas within the fire perimeter and will continue to assist with any new fire starts in the temporary flight restriction area of the fire. South Zone (GBIMT7): Resources were able to access portions of the west side of the fire yesterday to begin repair efforts. Higher elevation areas remain inaccessible due to recent rains and soil conditions. Resources will continue to scout areas and begin repair work when the area is safe to access. Crews will continue to focus on lower elevation repair efforts, including fixing fences and culverts that were damaged and dozer line that was built during the suppression of the fire on public and private lands. Overall, the flooding and debris flow threat is low through the weekend unless a strong thunderstorm develops directly over a high severity burn scar area. The City of Las Vegas contractor will begin fog sealing and stripping on Bridge Street starting Monday, June 27. Bridge Street will be closed Mondays thru Thursdays and opened Fridays thru Sundays. Valencia and Moreno Street will be one-way streets for the duration of the project. Please be aware and cautious in this area. There will be designated public parking off Valencia Street north of the breezy way, a parking lot on 12th Street, and West Las Vegas School District parking off South Gonzales and Paseo De Las Escuelas / Moreno Street.
