Beginning Wednesday, June 17, 2026, contractors working on the Gallinas River debris removal project will begin removing sediment and ash deposits resulting from previous flooding and wildfire events. This work is expected to take place over the next several weeks.

This work is an approved component of the ongoing project and is necessary to help restore river capacity, protect public infrastructure and improve drainage. Contractors will be removing sediment and debris from areas surrounding the bridges at Mills Avenue, Independence Avenue, and Grand Avenue. All required environmental and safety protocols will be followed throughout the process.

Every effort will be made to minimize disturbance to the surrounding area, and appropriate precautions will be taken to protect nearby properties, infrastructure, water quality, and natural resources during construction activities. The work is expected to have minimal impact on residents and the traveling public.

The City of Las Vegas appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as this important work is completed. If you have questions regarding the project, please contact the City of Las Vegas Public Works Department at 505-426-3294.
