PSA 9/21/2026 9:00 a.m.: Flood Watch Issued for Las Vegas and San Miguel County
A Flood Watch for Las Vegas and portions of San Miguel County beginning Tuesday afternoon, September 22, and continuing through Wednesday afternoon, September 23.
Current forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate the Las Vegas area could receive approximately 3 to 4 inches of rainfall from Tuesday through Thursday, with locally higher amounts possible. Forecast models may continue to change, but current guidance remains highly favorable for widespread heavy rainfall and an increased risk of flash flooding.
Residents should remain weather aware and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions. Flash flooding may occur in low-lying areas, arroyos, creeks, drainage channels, roadways and low-water crossings. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways and never attempt to walk or drive through moving water. Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Avoid arroyos, creeks, drainage channels and other flood-prone areas.
Never drive around barricades or through flooded roadways.
Keep children and pets away from fast-moving water.
If you live in a flood-prone area, be prepared to move to higher ground.
Use extra caution when traveling, especially at night.
If water begins rising around your home or vehicle, move to higher ground immediately.
City of Las Vegas public safety officials are monitoring the situation and will continue tracking weather and flooding conditions as the system moves through the area.
