The City of Las Vegas Gas Division and Streets Department will be working on the 2300 block of Lopez Street, which will be temporarily closed for street cuts and asphalt repair on Thursday, August 7, 2025, beginning at approximately 7:00 a.m. and continuing until completed, which is anticipated by the end of the day. If there is a need for further work to continue into Friday, additional notice will be provided. Traffic control and signage will be in place throughout the project. Please use caution in the area, watch for city staff, and follow all safety directions. Alternative routes are recommended to help reduce congestion and maintain a safe work zone. The City of Las Vegas Water Distribution Department will be installing a new water main line on the 300 block of Santa Fe Street. This work will require the closure of Santa Fe Street between Church Street and Hot Springs Boulevard from Thursday, August 7, 2025, through Friday, August 29, 2025. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Streets will remain open during evenings and weekends. Detours will be marked, and alternative routes are encouraged to reduce traffic and ensure safety. Water service renewals will also be completed in the area. While full water service interruptions are not expected, residents may experience low or no water pressure during construction hours. Beginning today and continuing throughout the month of August, Leak Detection, Inc., an authorized contractor, will be conducting the City of Las Vegas Gas Division’s annual gas leak survey. This routine inspection is a key part of our ongoing safety program to ensure the continued safety and reliability of the natural gas system. Trained and clearly identifiable crews, along with City staff, will be walking or driving along natural gas pipelines to check for potential leaks. You may see them working in yards, alleys, or roadways. In some areas, side-by-side utility vehicles will be used to assist with inspections. If you notice someone in your yard, please do not be alarmed. These are certified professionals performing essential safety work, and all personnel will carry proper identification. The City of Las Vegas would like to inform residents and visitors that the Plaza Park drive-through will officially close today at 6:00 p.m. to allow for the setup of the 20th Annual Rough Rider Motorcycle Rally. Please note that while this is a permitted event taking place on city property, it is not an official City of Las Vegas–sponsored event. As part of the event setup, gated access will be in effect. Several entrances to Plaza Park will be gated or have restricted access. For everyone’s safety, drivers and pedestrians are urged to proceed with extreme caution when traveling in and around the Plaza area. While the park will be closed to drive-through traffic, local businesses surrounding the Plaza remain open and continue to welcome customers. Residents and visitors are encouraged to shop and dine locally throughout the weekend in support of our small businesses. During the closure, parking on Plaza Park grounds will not be permitted. Visitors should use alternative nearby parking options. Additionally, several streets in the area will be closed to traffic, including sections of Bridge Street, Valencia Street, Gonzales Street, Hot Springs Boulevard, Morrison Street, Moreno Street, and the entire Historic Plaza Park area . Drivers should expect delays and detours and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Plaza Park will fully reopen to drive-through traffic on the morning of Monday, July 28.
