The City of Las Vegas Abe Montoya Recreation Center would like to announce that the facility currently has no internet and phone service. Contractor crews working on new utility lines in the area cut fiber lines coming to the facility. We are still open. We will be closing Friday, April 15, 2022, at 12:00pm in observance of the Easter Holiday. The Abe Montoya Recreation Center will reopen on Monday, April 18, 2022. Starting Thursday, April 14, 2022, the Abe Montoya Recreation Center’s Basketball and Racquetball Courts will be closed until Friday, May 6, 2022, due to the current Hermit Peak’s Wildfire in San Miguel County. The Abe Montoya Recreation Center will be hosting the Fire Crews fighting the wildfire. During the closure of the basketball and racquetball courts the Abe Recreation Center will be providing outdoor basketball courts in the parking lot. Beginning Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Hay's Plumbing will be disconnecting the water on North Gonzales. This disconnection will allow for the tie-in of the new waterline. The outage will be from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.. Once the connection is complete water will be restored to all residents in the affected area. The Utilities Department will be flushing fire hydrants on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, around the City of Las Vegas. The purpose of this is to help maintain water quality standards and the fire protection system. Citizens may experience brief periods of discolored water or low pressure in these areas which is normal during flushing operations. Starting April 4, 2022 Hay's Construction concrete crew will commence to demo, from, and pour the raised concrete crosswalks on Bridge Street. Bridge Street will be closed from Plaza Drugs and West Administration Building to Valencia Street for approximately 5 days and is anticipated to re-open April 9, 2022. Bridge Street parking will be available to the public at the Police Department, Our Lady of Sorrows parking lot on Valencia, parking along Hot Springs / Plaza in front of the Longmire office, Plaza area, Utilities Department on 12th Street, and North Gonzales in front of Plaza Drugs.
