PSA 4/7/2025 3:00 p.m.: Las Vegas Fire Department Conducts Essential Training Evolution

ree

On Thursday, April 3, the Las Vegas Fire Department's Green Team took part in critical training led by Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Randal Haugen. Haugen, who joined the department in December, led a session focusing on Initial Response, Hose Deployment, and Ladder Deployment Operations, alongside Captain Daniel Atencio and Fire Chief Steven Spann. Despite cold winds and snow flurries, the team pushed through. Up next: Red Team and Blue Team!

The training simulated real-life emergency scenarios, using the First Due fire response system to create a high-pressure, realistic drill environment. These exercises help firefighters refine their skills, address areas for improvement, and teach new probationary firefighters the critical aspects of the job.

We’re also proud to celebrate a historic milestone: this training involved the department’s first two certified female firefighters, marking an important achievement in the history of the Las Vegas Fire Department.

The goal of these drills is clear: to ensure every member of the team is prepared, efficient, and ready to act swiftly when emergencies arise. When the call came for a potential structure fire on Grand Avenue, the Green Team responded swiftly and professionally. Their dedication to excellence ensures our community is in good hands.

Stay safe and know that your Las Vegas Fire Department is always training and ready to serve.
