The City of Las Vegas invites local businesses, organizations, families and community groups to participate in the “Haunted Gallinas Halloween Challenge” along the Gallinas River Park. This year’s theme is “Haunted Gallinas,” and Mayor David Romero is encouraging the community to help create a Halloween version of “Luces en el Río” and establish a new seasonal tradition for local families.
Participants can decorate their designated areas with Halloween lights, pumpkins, ghosts, witches, ghouls and other creative displays. Participation is free, with prizes awarded in several categories, including Best Overall Display, Spookiest Display, Best Use of Lights, Most Creative & Original, Best Family-Friendly Display, Best Business/Organization Display, Best Club or Community Group Display and People’s Choice.
Displays must be completed and set up by Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The official lighting will take place Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at dusk. Registration is required and can be completed on our website at www.lasvegasnm.gov.
The City encourages residents and community groups to get creative and make their displays unique to the Haunted Gallinas theme. From spooky and mysterious to fun and family-friendly, participants are encouraged to showcase their creativity and Halloween spirit.
