Wildfire Safety Tips During High Winds and Red Flag Warnings

Tuesday, March 18, 2025 – 4:30 p.m.

The City of Las Vegas Fire Department urges the public to follow these important safety tips during high winds and red flag warnings:

  • Open burning is strictly prohibited within city limits.

  • Avoid activities that create open flames or sparks, such as using welders, electric saws, and grinders.

  • Dispose of cigarettes properly; do not throw them out of vehicle windows to prevent roadside fires.

  • Do not drive on dry grass to avoid accidental ignition.

  • Report any smoke or flames by calling 9-1-1 immediately.

The sooner you report any signs of smoke or flames, the quicker authorities can respond and take action to prevent a potential wildfire from spreading. Timely reporting is crucial for the safety of everyone in the community.

Thank you for being vigilant and helping protect the City of Las Vegas. Stay safe, be cautious, and work together to prevent wildfires during these dangerous conditions.
