FEMA Hosts First Public Meeting to Collect Comments About Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act Regulations SANTA FE, New Mexico – On Thursday, Nov. 17, FEMA will host the first of multiple public meetings as part of its 60-day public comment period to collect feedback on the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act interim regulations. The Act provides $2.5 billion to compensate New Mexicans impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and subsequent flooding. The regulations will guide the claims process and describe necessary documentation, evaluation criteria, and available funding and provide for appeal rights, arbitration and judicial review. In addition to the public meetings, comments can be submitted at Federalregister.gov (docket number: FEMA-2022-0037). The public comment period runs through Jan 13, 2023. Comments submitted online will be publicly available. For additional information, visit Fema.gov/Hermits-Peak. Please be advised, The Senior Center Program will not be delivering meals or providing transportation due to the weather today. This will affect the following Sites: Las Vegas, San Miguel and Pecos. Emergency Meals were delivered to all in anticipation of bad weather and safety for our staff and our vehicles. Emergency Meals will continue to be delivered on a regular basis to assure no one goes without food. The City of Las Vegas Streets Division will be painting crosswalks on Mills Avenue from Grand Avenue to Hotsprings Blvd. beginning Sunday, November 6th through Thursday, November 10th. The crew will be painting from 7:00am until approximately 5:00pm. There will be a partial or complete road closure. A detour and traffic control will be in place during this time.
