The City of Las Vegas Animal Care Center will be closed today, Friday, May 8th, due to several recent medical cases involving animals in their care over the past 24 hours. As a result, staff availability is limited and there is no coverage for the front office. Community members are encouraged to leave a message at 505-426-3289 or send a message, and staff will respond as soon as possible. The effluent water system at the standpipes located at City Utilities, 905 12th Street, will be temporarily unavailable beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026. Summer is here, and it is a great time to get outside and enjoy the parks. If you did not know yet and have not been there, Rodriguez Park, located at 1308 Grant St., offers a scenic 1.5-mile nature trail that is ideal for walking, jogging, and cycling, and it is open and ready to be explored.
